Edible Austin
I wanted to share this link before I forgot.
A parent-friend handed me a magazine while we were killing time in the local gelato place. It was a free publication. I took it home with me and found this to be a useful resource (in addition to having pretty pictures of food!). What was more useful, though, was the website.
I re-discovered Edible Austin while searching for a list of local CSAs. It was all right there! I also found a list of farmers markets, farm stands, "what's in season," local eats and MORE. This is an amazing resource (excuse me if I already said that). If you live in the Austin/Central Texas area or place to visit, you might want to take some time to peruse or at least bookmark this site.
One restaurant listed on the site that I hope to visit is Apple Annie's (which is currently relocating). They have been in the basement of the Bank One (um, Chase?) building downtown for years. When I worked a few blocks over, I would walk there on my lunch breaks, weekly. Before that, shortly after I moved here from Denton, I actually worked in the building and the smell was just the best. The new address:
Annies on Congress
319 Congress Avenue
opening September 2008
Will parking still be a huge issue for those not working in the city? Probably. I'll take the bus.
